Atlantis WeatherGear Launches AWG Water Athlete Program

Introduces Team of Inspirational Brand Ambassadors

April 9, 2013 (MARBLEHEAD, Mass.) – Atlantis WeatherGear, America’s fastest-growing brand of apparel for sailing and the coastal lifestyle, today announced the launch of the Atlantis WeatherGear Water Athlete Program®, a brand ambassador program designed to celebrate and support a special group of professional and amateur sailors, riders and fishermen who follow their passion for a life lived on the water.

Atlantis’ team of Water Athletes consists of competitors and passionate enthusiasts who play the game the right way and provide a respected voice in their communities. They represent and evangelize the Atlantis brand and product line at events and on bodies of water across the country and around the world.

Atlantis will provide selected athletes with technical and casual apparel as well as financial and promotional support. In return, members of the program will promote the brand, provide product testimonials and feedback and submit a range of multimedia content for distribution via social media channels.

“This program is a natural evolution of our sponsorship of the US Sailing Team during the last quad” offered Atlantis partner Bill Lynn. “The only real differences are that we get to pick the team, and it offers the opportunity to expand beyond our sailing base into other water-based activities.”

The initial team of AWG Water Athletes includes the following:

  • Speed kiteboarder Brock Callen (Edgartown, MA), one of the few people in the world to have exceeded 50 MPH on a kiteboard.
  • Team Icarus (Class 40), a shorthanded distance racing duo made up of blue water veterans Tim Fetsch and Ben Poucher (Charleston, SC)
  • Team Muse (J/70) led by Heather Gregg-Earl (Boston, MA), one of the most accomplished female sailors in the northeast.

“Our team is thrilled to work with Atlantis,” said Gregg-Earl. “From a performance perspective, Atlantis has really shaken up the status quo with some fantastic designs, and it’s one of the few brands that understand that women don’t want to look like they are wearing men’s gear.”

The Atlantis product line is available online at the Atlantis site and via the Atlantis WeatherGear Dealer Network. You can find more information about the AWG Water Athletes online at www.AtlantisWeatherGear.com/Team-Atlantis.

Atlantis WeatherGear is Official Apparel Partner for the Panerai Corinthian Classic Regatta

Company expands support for classic yacht racing in the US

July 25, 2012 (MARBLEHEAD, Mass.) – Atlantis WeatherGear, America’s fastest-growing brand of apparel for sailing and the coastal lifestyle, today announced that they have signed on as Official Apparel Partner for the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta – presented by Officine Panerai (www.panerai.com). The event is hosted by Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA and will be sailed on the waters of Massachusetts Bay during the weekend of August 11-12.

Atlantis’ ties to classic yachting are strong and deep. Headquartered in the old Graves Yacht Yard on Marblehead Harbor, builders of many well-known classic yachts, the company has a unique connection to the town’s yachting heritage. And as an almost 40-year-old brand, Atlantis has been aboard many of these yachts over the years and kept their crews dry and comfortable.

Atlantis will provide prizes for owners of the top-placing yachts in each division as well as event apparel for the organizing committee and to be offered for sale on-site at the event.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of classic yachting in general, and especially the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta.” offered Atlantis President Chaz Bertrand, owner of a Herreshoff Rosinante. “It’s really exciting to have a classic yachting event of this magnitude here in our backyard, and we expect it to continue to grow and thrive.”

Atlantis salutes the growing trend toward restoring and racing these rare nautical treasures. Several of the company’s staffers compete regularly on the US classic circuit, and many Atlantis designs are inspired by the rich heritage and tradition embodied by these beautiful yachts.

“I can’t think of a better sailing apparel brand to have involved with our event,” said event co-chair Bruce Dyson. “Atlantis is a great brand, and their designs have strong appeal among the classic yachting crowd. Having Atlantis providing the prizes will give everyone a bit more incentive to get around the race course a bit quicker, so the cocktail party may start a bit earlier!”

The Atlantis 2012 product line is available online at the brand new Atlantis web site (www.AtlantisWeatherGear.com) and via the Atlantis WeatherGear Dealer Network.
