The Challenger was designed for colder-weather sailing and boating, but it's great to wear around town as well. When worn as part of a sailing kit, pair it with an Aegis Hybrid Bib to make sure the lower back area is adequately protected.

The first thing you notice about the jacket is that every detail of its design is well thought out. Many different types of material are used, and each one is just right for the part of the garment where it is found. The jacket is amply cut, which means that it gives full coverage of my torso and my long arms. It is warm, well fitted, comfortable, and rugged. In other words, it's everything you could want when you need to spend an extended time outdoors in cold weather.

This is a first class product, and I'm very happy with it. I bought it rather late in the fall and haven't had a chance yet to sail in it. But I've used it for hiking in the woods with my dogs, for some deer hunting (the red color is good), and for general wear around town. I was just out with the dogs on a cold and blustery day, and my face was cold, but my body wasn't. It's warm for its weight, and I appreciate the high zip-up collar and velcro cuff straps that help keep the cold wind out. And I think it's a good looking jacket that I'm happy to wear around town. I'm pretty sure VP candidate Paul Ryan was wearing one on a televised TV campaign appearance I saw. At least I agreed with his judgement on his choice of an Atlantis jacket, if nothing else.
