Product Care
Washing Instructions:
Follow instructions on the garment’s hang-tag or care label. Outerwear should be washed in cold water on the gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and line dry. Do not iron.
Storage:
Properly stored weather gear will last for years. We recommend that after each use you hang your gear up in an open and dry area. If you're a salt-water sailor we advise that you rinse the salt deposits off regularly. Storing gear wet, below deck or in a gear bag, will result in mildew, which over time will break down the waterproof/breathable coating on your foul weather gear.
Stain Removal:
If you happen to get a grease stain on your outerwear, try removing it by scrubbing with warm water and dishwashing detergent. Then wash the gear in warm water on the delicate cycle with the Velcro® sealed and hang it up in an open and dry area to drip dry.
Water-Repellency:
All of our waterproof/breathable weather gear comes with a durable water repellant (DWR) finish applied to the fabric. The DWR is what causes water to bead-up on the fabric's surface in adverse conditions. After prolonged use, the DWR on your garment will need to be replenished. There are several water repellency replenishers on the market but we have found that a spray on product called Nikwax (www.nikwax-usa.com) produces the best results.
